BCHA is joining the National Park Service and other partners to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the National Park System, which was established on August 25, 1916.
Our national parks and monuments celebrate the history and character of our nation. They include a long and colorful history of pack and saddle stock use that persists to the present day. National parks serve as quintessential landscapes in which Americans and international tourists alike can revel in the splendor of nature and be among the great outdoors.
In honor of the 100th anniversary, we encourage BCHA members to go to FindYourPark.com to explore and discover the superlative American landscapes that comprise the National Park System. Specifically, we encourage BCHA members to go to Share Your Park in order to “Share Your Story” about a favorite national park—or trail within a national park—that provided an unforgettable riding or packing experience.
We need your help in declaring to the world why America’s national parks are important to saddle and pack stock users. Please share your stories about day rides and pack trips in your favorite national park. Let the world know the importance of our national parks to the experience sought by pack and saddle stock users—a cultural heritage and tradition that spans—and will endure—past, present and future generations.
